Wartortle is an indigo, bipedal Pokémon, similar to a turtle. He has brown eyes, a dark blue line on each cheek and two sharp teeth protruding from his upper jaw. It has three toes with claws and pointed fingers. Pale blue skin covers his long ears and tail.

A brown shell with a pale yellow underside encloses its body. A thick white border separates the upper and lower halves of the shell. As Wartortle ages, its fur on its tail will darken and may have algae growing on its shell. The shell can also carry scars from past battles.
